Privacy Policy

DjVuReader is an offline document reader. It does not have user accounts and does not include any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. The documents you open, the pages you bookmark, your reading position, your annotations, and any text recognised on a page all stay on your device. Product lookup, purchase, and restore use Apple’s StoreKit; no document or reading data is included in those requests.

Because DjVuReader does not collect personal or document data, there is no server-side profile of you to request, correct, or delete. Everything the app stores is local and is removed when you delete the document or the app; Apple separately manages App Store commerce.

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identifiers (name, email, phone, Apple ID).
• Device identifiers used for tracking or advertising.
• The contents, names, or metadata of documents you open.
• Search queries, bookmarks, annotations, or reading history.
• Usage analytics, crash analytics, or diagnostic telemetry.
• Location, contacts, photos, or microphone data.

The app ships an Apple Privacy Manifest that declares no tracking, no tracking domains, and no collected data types. Required-Reason API declarations are limited to the file-timestamp and user-defaults categories that store your in-app settings and library metadata.

When you open a document, DjVuReader reads it with macOS / iOS security-scoped file access. Imported documents are copied into the app’s own private storage so they survive relaunch; they are never uploaded or synced to us or to any third party.

Reading state — last page, bookmarks, favorites, per-document view settings — is saved in the app’s local preferences. Ink annotations are saved in a local file inside the app’s Application Support directory. None of this leaves the device.

For image-only pages with no embedded text layer, DjVuReader can recognise text using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. This processing runs entirely on your device. Page images are not sent to us, to Apple, or to any external service for recognition, and recognised text is not retained beyond the reading session unless you copy it yourself.

Opening, rendering, searching, OCR, annotations, and reading state do not use the network. There is no account system, cloud sync, remote configuration, or embedded third-party SDK. Product lookup, purchase, restore, and entitlement checks connect to Apple through StoreKit. Apple processes that commerce data under Apple’s privacy policy; DjVuReader receives only product and verified entitlement state.

You can remove any imported document from within the app; doing so also deletes its saved reading position and bookmarks. Deleting the app removes all local data it created, including annotations and settings. There is nothing stored off-device for us to delete on your behalf.

DjVuReader does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal information at all, it does not build profiles of, or direct content to, children.

This site is statically rendered and served from a CDN. It sets no cookies, ships no third-party JavaScript, loads no remote fonts or images, and runs no analytics. The only value it stores in your browser is the light/dark theme you pick, kept in local storage on your device and never transmitted.

We do not log visitors beyond the standard, transient request logs the hosting provider keeps for security and reliability.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect how the app behaves will also be reflected in the app’s release notes.
